Level 3 Listening - Task One (Interviews)

The first task in the Level 3 listening exam involves listening to dialogues in the form of interviews. In the exam specifications, it is written that the recording can be either 2 or 3 minutes long and have either 2 or 3 multiple-choice questions accordingly.


Regardless of how many recordings, there are always 6 questions and the recordings last in total around 6 minutes. In the majority of cases, this means there will be 3 interviews each lasting 2 minutes, with 2 questions each. However, be prepared for 2 longer recordings of 3 minutes with 3 questions each.


Let's take a look at a typical set of task instructions and questions:


TASK ONE

You are going to hear extracts from radio interviews. Listen and choose the best answer a), b) or c). You will hear each recording twice. Before each recording, there will be a pause of 30 seconds to read the questions.


You now have 30 seconds to read the questions for Text 1.

Each recording is played twice during the exam. There is also a 30-second gap before the recording is repeated.
