Level 3 SPEAKING EXAM - DISCUSSION phrases

In this post, I'd like to present some expressions which will make your exam performance more successful and will make you sound like a professional English language user. After all, level 3, as any advanced language level, requires more sophisticated and elaborate expressions than those that are commonly used, and are typical of level 2.


So, in order to sound more like level 3, rather than level 2, study and use the following:

Here’s a list of some advanced expressions to use in Task 2 of the level 3 speaking exam:


DISCUSSIONS


To express an opinion, instead of “I think”, say:


  • I believe …

  • In my view …

  • To my mind …

  • The way I see it is that …

  • As far as I’m concerned …


Instead of “I agree”, say:


  • You are absolutely right!

  • I suppose so …

  • I would say that …

  • I suppose so …

  • Absolutely!

  • You’ve got a point there!


Instead of “What do you think?” or “What is your opinion?”, say:


  • What’s your take on that?

  • How do you feel about that?

  • What are your thoughts on that?

  • Would you agree with me that …?
