Battleplan English ("the App") is a mobile application available for iOS and Android. This Privacy Policy applies to both versions of the App. It explains what information we process, how we use it, and your rights when you use the App.

2. Information We Collect
Information You Provide
Battleplan English does not require users to create a Battleplan English account. Users may, however, need an Apple Account or Google Account to download the App or make purchases through the relevant app store.
The App does not request personal information such as:

You may voluntarily provide information when contacting us for support. If you choose optional online Practice, we also process the sentence or short voice recording you submit. These can contain personal information even though we do not ask you to include it. Do not submit personal, confidential, classified or operationally sensitive information.
Information Collected Automatically
We may receive limited technical and diagnostic information relating to the operation of the App through Apple, Google, Cloudflare, Microsoft Azure, or other services used to operate the App. This may include device type, operating-system version, App version, device language, crash information, performance information and similar technical information.
We use this information to operate, secure, troubleshoot and improve the App. We do not use it for advertising or to build profiles of individual users.
3. Learning Progress
Battleplan English stores your learning progress locally on your device. This may include:

Application settings
Learning progress is stored locally on your device and is not transmitted to Battleplan English servers for storage or synchronisation. It will normally be removed when you delete the App or erase its data. Depending on your device and operating-system settings, some App data may also be included in device backups managed by Apple or Google.
Practice Assessment in Version 1.2
Online Practice is optional. The following describes the iPhone Version 1.2 assessment flow; Practice availability on Android is handled separately. Learn, Quiz and downloaded reference recordings can still be used without online assessment.
When you submit Sentence Practice, your current sentence and its approved learning targets pass through Battleplan's protected Cloudflare service to Microsoft Azure's text model. When you submit Speaking Practice, your short recording passes through that service to Microsoft's real-time Speech-to-Text service. Battleplan compares the recognised words with the approved reference sentence and returns learning feedback. Speaking checks understandable words and completeness, not resemblance to a particular accent, voice identity or a voiceprint.
Battleplan does not save submitted sentences, recordings, recognised text or feedback as Practice history or in application payload logs. Temporary drafts, results and a recording may remain on your device during the current activity for review or retry; this is separate from server retention.
Microsoft's text service checks prompts and responses for misuse. Selected flagged sentence text and feedback may be retained and accessed for authorised abuse review under Microsoft's service terms. Turning off optional response-history storage does not disable this safety process. Microsoft states that this content is not used to train its foundation models without permission. Microsoft's real-time Speech service processes audio in memory and does not retain the supplied audio or resulting transcript. We do not use batch transcription, audio diagnostic logging, speaker identification or voice enrolment in this flow. See:
Practice requires an internet connection and your explicit in-app permission. Microphone permission is requested separately. AI feedback can be mistaken and is learning guidance, not a formal language assessment. In the updated Version 1.2 build, you can review or withdraw permission for future online assessments in Practice > Review or stop online assessment. If using an earlier build without that control, stop submitting online Practice or update the app. Withdrawal does not recall requests already sent. Existing learning, purchases, downloads and saved progress are unaffected.
4. Content Delivery
Battleplan English delivers educational content through secure internet services.
To improve performance, reliability and security, lesson content may be delivered through Cloudflare's global content delivery network. Cloudflare may process technical connection information such as IP addresses, request information and related network data in accordance with its own privacy and data-processing policies.

5. Analytics and Diagnostics
Battleplan English may receive aggregated, pseudonymous or diagnostic information from platform providers such as Apple and Google to understand App performance and reliability. Examples include:

We do not use this information to identify individual users or for behavioural advertising.
6. Advertising
Battleplan English does not display third-party advertisements. We do not sell your personal information or use your data for targeted advertising.
7. In-App Purchases
Purchases made through the iOS version of the App are processed by Apple through the App Store. Purchases made through the Android version are processed by Google through Google Play.
Battleplan English does not receive or store your payment-card or bank-account details. We may, however, receive or process limited transaction information necessary to verify purchases and provide access to purchased content. This may include the product purchased, purchase status, transaction identifiers or purchase tokens.
For the Android version, Google Play purchase tokens may be transmitted to our secure backend service and verified with Google Play to confirm purchases, prevent fraud and restore access. Apple and Google process payment information according to their respective privacy policies.
8. Third-Party Services
The App may rely on trusted third-party services, including:

Apple – App Store, StoreKit, App Analytics, App Attest and diagnostic services (iOS)

Google – Google Play, Google Play Billing and Play diagnostic services (Android)

Cloudflare – content delivery, backend infrastructure and security services

Microsoft Azure – optional Sentence Practice text-model processing within Microsoft's EU Data Boundary, and real-time Speaking recognition in Sweden Central. Microsoft's EU Data Boundary can include EU and EFTA countries.
Each provider processes information in accordance with its own privacy policy.
9. Data Retention
Learning progress and App settings stored locally remain on the user's device until they are deleted by the user, the App's data is erased or the App is uninstalled, subject to any device backup settings.
Battleplan does not retain submitted sentences, recordings, recognised text or feedback as server-side Practice history. Microsoft may retain selected flagged sentence text and responses for authorised abuse review under its current service terms; we do not promise zero retention or a fixed maximum that those terms do not establish. Microsoft does not retain input audio or transcripts from the real-time Speech flow described above.
Our protected Practice service retains pseudonymous App Attest key IDs/public keys and derived installation identifiers for security and request limits. These identify an app installation rather than an app account, but are not anonymous. Operational events contain limited usage/status, latency, token/audio-duration and estimated-cost information, not learner sentences, recordings, recognised text or feedback. Events become eligible for deletion after 31 days and inactive App Attest key records after 90 days; scheduled cleanup runs daily, normally within a further 24 hours. Short-lived verification challenges and used-session records are removed after expiry by daily cleanup.
Cloudflare database recovery copies may retain previously deleted security or operational records for a further limited period, up to 30 days under its current recovery service. These copies do not contain Practice sentences or recordings because those are not written to this database. If recovery is required, expired records must be removed before normal service resumes.
Other technical and diagnostic information is retained only for as long as reasonably necessary for security, troubleshooting and App improvement, or in accordance with the relevant provider's retention policies. Purchase-verification information may be retained for as long as reasonably necessary to verify purchases, maintain access, prevent fraud and comply with legal obligations.
Information voluntarily provided when contacting us for support is retained only for as long as necessary to resolve the request and meet applicable legal obligations.
10. Data Security
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect information processed in connection with Battleplan English. Where information is transmitted between the App, our backend services and third-party providers, appropriate technical safeguards are used. However, no internet-based service can guarantee absolute security.
11. Children's Privacy
Battleplan English is intended for educational use by learners of English. It is not specifically designed or directed towards young children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children through the App. Where applicable law establishes a minimum age for consent, we comply with that requirement.
If you believe that a child has provided personal information, please contact us and we will take appropriate steps to remove it.
12. Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have rights under applicable data-protection laws, including the right to:

Since Battleplan English stores learning progress primarily on your device, deleting the App will generally remove your stored learning data.
Where processing is based on legitimate interests, you may have the right to object. Where processing is based on consent, you may withdraw that consent at any time. Requests concerning information held by Battleplan English can be made using the contact details below.
For online Practice in the updated Version 1.2 build, use Practice > Review or stop online assessment to stop future submissions. In an earlier build without that control, stop submitting online Practice or update the app. You may also revoke microphone access in your device settings. These controls do not delete a request already processed by a provider or erase purchases and learning progress. Contact us with any data-rights request so we can assess it against the data actually held and the relevant provider arrangements; we do not require you to send a sensitive practice sentence to prove the request.
13. International Users
Battleplan English may be available in multiple countries. Where the GDPR or other applicable data-protection legislation applies, personal information is processed in accordance with those requirements.
Sentence assessment uses Microsoft's EU Data Zone, which follows its EU Data Boundary and can include EFTA countries such as Norway and Switzerland as well as EU member states. This is not a promise of EU-member-only or Sweden-only text processing. Speaking recognition uses the Sweden Central real-time endpoint.
Cloudflare provides a global gateway and content-delivery network. A European database location is not a guarantee that every request, security operation or provider recovery copy is processed only in the EU. Apple, Google, Microsoft and Cloudflare may also process service or account information under their applicable terms and data-protection arrangements. Where required, appropriate international-transfer safeguards apply.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be published within the App and/or at https://stanagbattleplan.com. The Last Updated date above indicates when this policy was last revised.
